NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Philadelphia Eagles have signed free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel on a six-year contract, the National Football League team said on Friday.
Samuel, a twice Pro Bowl selection who spent the last five seasons with the New England Patriots, has agreed to a deal estimated by local media to be worth $57 million.
The 27-year-old, a fourth-round draft pick in 2003, recorded 22 interceptions in 75 regular season games with the Patriots, and a further five interceptions in 14 postseason games.
He was an integral part of New England's perfect regular season last year and earned two Super Bowl rings with the Patriots.
